Original and Substitute BMW Convertible Top Fabrics:
Most BMW convertible tops originally were made with German Sonnenland canvas. However many BMW restorers may find very cost-effective replacement BMW convertible tops in substitute fabrics.

In particular the restorer might be happy to sacrifice some convertible top longevity in favor of less expensive convertible top material if he or she is doing their own installation. The DIY installer is less interested in longevity as the savings in self installing a top might outweigh the "per year cost" of a shop installed BMW top.

BMW Top Variations:
Our site convertibletopguys.com offers the "high end" BMW convertible tops (soft top) made with original detailing to precise dealer specifications. An "OEM" BMW convertible top is offered in original BMW convertible top canvas fabrics. These were, usually, German Sonnenland top canvas or the similar Twillfast (Sonnendeck) top canvas.

Lower Cost Tops:
Chrysler Sailcloth vinyl fabric, original to late model Mustang and Sebring tops, has an elegant canvas like appearance but is much less expensive convertible top fabric than canvas. For lower priced restorations but an elegant appearing BMW top, we carry the Chrysler Sailcloth vinyl BMW replacement soft top for some models of BMW convertible. For restorers doing their own installation, the wear advantage of the canvas convertible top fabric is less important and may suggest that the BMW convertible do-it-yourself convertible top installer consider the Chrysler Sailcloth BMW top version.

All Replacement BMW Tops are Accurate:Our BMW convertible top manufacturers include Robbins, GAHH and Germanex, all making careful BMW soft top reproductions and all providing BMW dealers as well as BMW top distributors. Most of our tops retain all of the original design specifications, such as the signature BMW convertible top green rear window (where used in the original top.) Where some detail modification might have been introduced (never changing the BMW geometry and fit) the descriptions of such a BMW convertible to will be explicitly described.
