There have been Honda convertible cars from 1963 onward. Beginning with the sporty Honda S2000 convertible cars the Honda convertible began reaping significant market share. We urge convertible top shoppers, particularly those about to restore a 2000 and later Honda Spyder (S2000 series) to read important information on their convertible top.

These sporty Honda convertible cars are receiving their first convertible top replacement, provided that the Honda convertible owner has been fortunate! There was a dealer recall owing to premature top abrasion in the area of the Honda S2000 convertible top latches. Proper installation of a new Honda S2000 convertible top should be accompanied by sandpapering the frame hinges and possibly replacing the latch on either side of the convertible top.

Honda S2000 Convertible Top Choices:
In the last two or three years the convertible top industry has changed drastically! Private sellers, working from their homes are specializing in a few tops that they buy wherever they get their best factory offering (for say ten tops) and then mark up slightly selling the convertible top on ebay. Because of the high financial cost in purchasing any expensive product you will want to deal with a supplier of Honda convertible tops, or any convertible top, with a long record of service. And you will want your top to be made properly.

The biggest on line retail sellers of convertible tops are now offering Honda S2000 convertible tops made of slickly advertised but inferior fabrics that (they don't tell you) is made for them in China!) This trend applies to a couple of the most venerated names in the convertible top industry. We urge restorers to select their Honda convertible top, in particular the late model Honda S2000 convertible top made of genuine Haartz fabric. (Even Haartz is rumored to be going to have to introduce a lower quality fabric in order to compete with the Chinese convertible tops. The changes in the convertible top market are not well known yet!
