About Mustang Convertible Top Boots

The convertible top boot is the storage compartment for the convertible top when it is in the down position. The Mustang boot, like other convertible top boots, is fastened to the rear deck of the car just aft of the convertible top itself. When the top is lowered the top and the frame can be stowed in the fabric storage "bag" known as the convertible top boot.

Our Ford Mustang boots are made from special (slightly flexible) boot vinyl or from the same vinyl as the convertible top itself. Ford Mustang convertible top boots are made to order using original Ford Mustang top boot patterns. These are stored for computer assisted cutting of top boot sections. Ford Mustang convertible top boots fasten as originally designed.

How long will it take to get my Ford Mustang convertible top boot?

Because of the great variety of colors requested and the number of Mustang models, our boots are custom made. Please allow approximately one week for your reproduction Ford Mustang boot to be made.

Convertible top boot color is usually chosen by the Mustang restorer to offset or mate with either the car’s interior color or paint color. Remember that the top is stored within the boot and you will want your Mustang to look spiffy when the convertible top is stored within its top storage boot.

Boot Vinyl vrs. Convertible Top Vinyl

We recommend Mustang convertible top boots made with boot vinyl as opposed to convertible top vinyl or convertible top canvas. Boot vinyl has more give and takes much less "break-in" time than convertible-top vinyl and convertible top canvas. The convertible top materials are much stiffer and require that you "break in" the new Ford Mustang convertible top boot. However, many of our Mustang convertible restorers do prefer that their boots be made in conventional convertible top vinyl or canvas.

Mustang convertible top boots remove easily, and you can also purchase a boot storage bag. Boot storage bags are snappable bags, made in fabric to match your top boot. You can store your boot in its boot bag when removed from the car.
