Haartz Stayfast Canvas: If you're looking to upgrade your vinyl top, consider a convertible top made of Haartz Stayfast Canvas. This fabric is the American substitute for the German canvases used in Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, as well as some Mustang and Lebaron models. Haartz Stayfast Canvas is a three-ply composite material made of an acrylic square weave outer fabric, a butyl rubber core, and a cotton lining. Can I Install the Buick Centurion top myself?

Yes! The 1971-1976 Buick Centurion convertible top is a "Scissor Top." "Scissor tops" have enjoyed good do-it-yourself results among our customers. However, the process of installing a Buick Centurion scissor top, because of the top frame's design, requires more work than the typical "two-part top" (which the scissor top is.) This extra work often involves the trial positioning and repositioning of the top especially at its rear. We therefore urge the do-it-yourselfer to get the scissor top installation manual which is a profusely illustrated how-to booklet on this particular top's replacement.

There is no sewing involved in installing a two-part convertible top, but you will have to be comfortable with a staple gun, manipulating convertible-top fabric, and applying contact cement.
