1980-81 Cadillac Coupe Deville Convertible Top Hydraulic Motor Pump Rebuild/repair Service   The repair service is usually completed 4 to 5 weeks after we receive your motor pump Details... We can evaluate your existing convertible top motor pump and if its "core" is good we can return it to like new condition. We service the whole motor section of the unit: recoiling, insulating and cleaning. We test the rewound unit to make sure it is in proper working order before returning to you. If you do want your motor rebuilt, simply click that line to add the service to your cart. (You would pay for it just as though you were ordering a part.) We will then send you a prepaid UPS shipping label. Properly box it up (we recommend putting it in a plastic bag as they can leak) and drop it off at a UPS store or the UPS counter in any Staples store. Tacking into the bow over the windshield (header bow) and into the bow over the rear window (rear top bow) is done into special strips embedded in these frame bows. Many restorers are selecting the top of the line Haartz stayfast canvas fabric. This is the most durable of toppings. It has a canvas outer layer, a preshrunk cotton inner layer and the two layers are bonded with a butyl rubber center core. Stayfast canvas swatches are also scanned (see link above.)

The dealer original convertilbe were made using Hess and Eisenhardt frames. The Hess & Eisenhardt nameplate should be found on door or trunk lid. Please verify that this is the top frame manufacturer.

The glass rear window is not available, so we can offer the main top but you must have the rear glass to restore this top completely.

the headliner is available as a separate item. It does not come with the top.

Hydraulics:

we now stock hydraulic cylinders, motor-pumps, and hoses for your convertible tops. All are made to OEM specifications. Each can be ordered separately; however, when ordering hydraulic cylinders we recommend replacing both. The chances are that both hydraulic cylinders were manufactured at the same time: if one is on its way out the other may follow. If the top is raised and one hydraulic cylinder is working harder than the other the result over time can lead to a slightly bent convertible top frame. The replacement of both hydraulic cylinders will ensure that the top raises and lowers symmetrically.

systems for this car take automatic transmission fluid (atf) and have a 5 year warranty when used with this fluid. Brake fluid should not be used as it voids the warranty. We also offer an installation manual when ordered.

the 12 volt motor-pumps include a mounting bracket with rubber grommets to reduce vibration.

we also offer a rebuilding service for motor-pumps. Not all are repairable, but it is less expensive to have one rebuilt than to buy a new one. The motor-pump would need to be sent to us for evaluation. Hoses come with all new fittings and are made specifically to fit your car.
