1979-85 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible Top Hydraulic Motor Pump Rebuild/repair Service   The repair service is usually completed 4 to 5 weeks after we receive your motor pump Details... We can evaluate your existing convertible top motor pump and if its "core" is good we can return it to like new condition. We service the whole motor section of the unit: recoiling, insulating and cleaning. We test the rewound unit to make sure it is in proper working order before returning to you. If you do want your motor rebuilt, simply click that line to add the service to your cart. (You would pay for it just as though you were ordering a part.) We will then send you a prepaid UPS shipping label. Properly box it up (we recommend putting it in a plastic bag as they can leak) and drop it off at a UPS store or the UPS counter in any Staples store. Pair of Convertible Top Pads.   Details... Pads are either foam filled fabric or special nylon webbing that attach to the frame bows underneath the top. Pair of Side Hold Down Cables.   Details... A pair of cables, one on each side, thread through pocketed hems on the tops sides. The ends of the cables hold the top to the frame. Rear Window:
You will be reusing your rear glass window, installing it on to the main top which we offer on this page.

Hold Down Cables:
Cables are threaded through the side hems of the top. Cables hold the sides of the top to the frame. They are hidden after installation. New cables are recommended with each new top. Cables are offered under "accessories."

Top Pads:
Long pads, installed under the top, build out the convertible top along the sides. Pads are offered under "accessories."

Headliners:
The headliner is the interior roof fabric covering. It is sold separately from the top and listed under "accessories." We can supply the headliner in the three original colors shown in the scan on this page. Other colors available on special orders: contact support@mtmfg.com.

Hydraulics:

We now stock hydraulic cylinders, motor-pumps, and hoses for your convertible tops. All are made to OEM specifications. Each can be ordered separately; however, when ordering hydraulic cylinders we recommend replacing both. The chances are that both hydraulic cylinders were manufactured at the same time: if one is on its way out the other may follow. If the top is raised and one hydraulic cylinder is working harder than the other the result over time can lead to a slightly bent convertible top frame. The replacement of both hydraulic cylinders will ensure that the top raises and lowers symmetrically.

Systems for this car take Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) and have a 5 year warranty when used with this fluid. Brake fluid should not be used as it voids the warranty. We also offer an installation manual when ordered.

The 12 volt motor-pumps include a mounting bracket with rubber grommets to reduce vibration.

We also offer a rebuilding service for motor-pumps. Not all are repairable, but it is less expensive to have one rebuilt than to buy a new one. The motor-pump would need to be sent to us for evaluation. Hoses come with all new fittings and are made specifically to fit your car.
