1950-51 Mercury Convertible Top Hydraulic Motor Pump Rebuild/repair Service   The repair service is usually completed 4 to 5 weeks after we receive your motor pump Details... We can evaluate your existing convertible top motor pump and if its "core" is good we can return it to like new condition. We service the whole motor section of the unit: recoiling, insulating and cleaning. We test the rewound unit to make sure it is in proper working order before returning to you. If you do want your motor rebuilt, simply click that line to add the service to your cart. (You would pay for it just as though you were ordering a part.) We will then send you a prepaid UPS shipping label. Properly box it up (we recommend putting it in a plastic bag as they can leak) and drop it off at a UPS store or the UPS counter in any Staples store. The original top fabric was canvas. Our Haartz Stayfast canvas is a modern convertible topping. Its butyl rubber center (core) provides very high durability..

Curtains: We can provide this top with a blank curtain or with a plastic (rear window) curtain. The blank curtain car is for those with access to a rear window frame and glass that can be mounted to the blank curtain. our plastic rear windows are made with a horseshoe zipper.

Haartz pinpoint vinyl is significantly less expensive and for some the fabric of choice.

We can offer a top boot for this convertible.

We strongly recommed one of the modern boot vinyls. This is a leather grained vinyl with a slight elasticity making it perfect for boot usage. Boots are listed, with accessories, below.

Hydraulics:

We now stock hydraulic cylinders, motor-pumps, and hoses for your convertible tops. All are made to OEM specifications. Each can be ordered separately; however, when ordering hydraulic cylinders we recommend replacing both. The chances are that both hydraulic cylinders were manufactured at the same time: if one is on its way out the other may follow. If the top is raised and one hydraulic cylinder is working harder than the other the result over time can lead to a slightly bent convertible top frame. The replacement of both hydraulic cylinders will ensure that the top raises and lowers symmetrically.

Systems for this car take Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) and have a 5 year warranty when used with this fluid. Brake fluid should not be used as it voids the warranty. We also offer an installation manual when ordered.

The 12 volt motor-pumps include a mounting bracket with rubber grommets to reduce vibration.

We also offer a rebuilding service for motor-pumps. Not all are repairable, but it is less expensive to have one rebuilt than to buy a new one. The motor-pump would need to be sent to us for evaluation. Hoses come with all new fittings and are made specifically to fit your car.
